KinLine Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 2026

This policy describes how KinLine, an iOS app made by Aadstra LLC, handles information. The Aadstra corporate website has its own separate website privacy policy.

Who operates KinLine

KinLine is made and operated by Aadstra LLC, an independent software company in Austin, Texas, United States. Privacy questions about KinLine are welcome at [email protected].

Information you store in KinLine

KinLine is a place for records you choose to keep about your family: insurance records, identity documents, doctor visits, medications, allergies and immunizations, emergency contacts and emergency information, appointments and reminders, documents, assets and valuables, and journal entries and notes.

You decide what goes into KinLine. Creating a person starts with just their name; beyond that, the app does not require you to store any particular kind of information.

Local storage — no account required

KinLine has no Aadstra account system. There is no registration, no email-and-password sign-up, and no sign-in to Aadstra servers.

The app works locally on your device without an iCloud account: the records you keep are stored in KinLine’s local storage on your device.

iCloud and CloudKit synchronization

KinLine works locally without iCloud. When you are signed into iCloud on your device and iCloud is available, supported records and document attachments synchronize automatically through Apple’s CloudKit service, keeping your information available across your devices signed into the same Apple Account.

This synchronization runs on Apple’s iCloud infrastructure under Apple’s terms and privacy practices — Aadstra does not operate the synchronization servers. KinLine does not have a separate in-app sync switch: whether your records synchronize follows your device’s iCloud sign-in and settings.

Family sharing

Family sharing in KinLine uses Apple’s CloudKit sharing. Sharing is always something you initiate and control: records are shared only with the people you choose to invite, with view-only or can-edit permissions that you set.

On-device document reading and AI

When you scan or import a document, KinLine reads it using Apple technologies that run on your device — Apple’s Vision text recognition and, where available, Apple’s on-device foundation models. Where on-device extraction is not available, KinLine keeps the recognized text searchable and you can enter and review details yourself.

Extraction produces suggested fields, which you review before anything is saved. KinLine does not promote extracted information into your records without your review.

Your family’s documents, their recognized text, and the extracted details are not sent to Aadstra, and they are not sent to third-party cloud AI services, for document extraction.

Apple system services

Some KinLine features rely on Apple system services, which may process limited information to do their job: iCloud and CloudKit synchronize supported records and document attachments, as described above. Apple Maps may process the address text you type when you use address autocomplete. Speech recognition for voice notes and voice search prefers Apple’s on-device recognition; when on-device recognition is not available for your device or language, Apple’s speech service may process the audio to transcribe it.

These are Apple system services operating under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. They are not Aadstra-operated services, and they are not non-Apple third parties.

Analytics, tracking, and advertising

KinLine does not include third-party advertising, analytics, attribution, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs, and it does not integrate non-Apple third-party libraries or services. KinLine’s App Store privacy declaration states that the app does not track you.

Where users opt in through iOS settings, Apple shares standard, aggregated app statistics (such as installation counts and crash information) with developers. Any such information reaches Aadstra only in aggregated form through Apple and is controlled by the analytics choices in your device settings and by Apple’s privacy practices.

Information Aadstra receives

KinLine contains no application networking of its own to Aadstra servers. It does not automatically transmit your family records, documents, attachments, recognized document text, extracted details, journal entries, emergency information, or backups to Aadstra-operated servers. Links from the app to Aadstra’s website or support open in Safari or Mail only when you choose to open them.

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message — such as your email address and anything you describe — and we use it to respond to you.

Backups

Backup export in KinLine is something you start yourself. It creates a local backup file on your device containing your structured record information; exported backups do not include the document files themselves. KinLine does not automatically upload backups to Aadstra — where you keep or send an exported backup is up to you.

Deleting your information

You can review, edit, and delete your records in the app at any time. Deleting a record removes the record and its attached files from the app directly — there is no trash or “recently deleted” holding area. A note that a record was deleted may remain in that person’s change history; deleting the person removes their records and change history together.

If your records synchronize through iCloud, deletions propagate through Apple’s CloudKit and reach your other devices and sharing participants when they next synchronize — propagation is not instantaneous everywhere.

Removing the KinLine app from a device deletes the app’s local data on that device. Information previously synchronized through iCloud may remain in your iCloud account and can synchronize again if you reinstall KinLine while signed into the same Apple Account.

Records about family members

KinLine is built for keeping records about the people in your household and family. When you store information about someone else, you are responsible for having an appropriate basis to hold it and for choosing carefully what you share.

Sharing in KinLine is always something you initiate and control.

Security

KinLine is built on Apple’s iOS platform and, where iCloud features are enabled, on Apple’s iCloud infrastructure, and relies on the protections those platforms provide. No app or service can guarantee absolute security, which is one reason KinLine keeps you in control of what is stored and shared in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as KinLine evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date above, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
